Responsibilities include

INSTRUCTOR

• Teach 12 credits per year, primarily now:
  • FLT 815 Culture and Intercultural Competence in FLT
  • FLT 817 Language Program Development and Administration
  • FLT 898 Final Portfolio / Comprehensive Examination (1 credit x 3)
• Designing and facilitating online courses
• Overseeing the development of about 20 portfolio websites per year

DIRECTOR

• Leadership and strategic planning
• Recruitment and retention of FLT graduate students
• Faculty supervision, including hiring and overseeing core faculty and recruiting additional instructors
• Coordinating with Office Operations staff in regard to HR, finances, and academic coordinating issues
• Academic advising for current students (50-60 advisees)
• Managing admissions process and chairing admissions committee (Spring, Summer, Fall each year)
• Evaluating Comprehensive Exams and completion of other program requirements
• Budgeting and financial management
• Curriculum development for FLT courses, including overseeing design, content, accessibility, and student support for current and new courses
• Evaluation of courses delivery and program as a whole
• Hiring and supervision of student workers
• Marketing strategy and materials
• Online Presence – Design and maintenance of website and social media platforms
• Providing guidance on student projects and research initiatives
• Maintain connections and communication with alumni
• Representing the FLT Programs and CeLTA within MSU, including:
  • College Graduate Committee
  • Language departments
  • Online program director groups
