Responsibilities include
INSTRUCTOR
- Teach 12 credits per year, primarily now:
- FLT 815 Culture and Intercultural Competence in FLT
- FLT 817 Language Program Development and Administration
- FLT 898 Final Portfolio / Comprehensive Examination (1 credit x 3)
- Designing and facilitating online courses
- Overseeing the development of about 20 portfolio websites per year
DIRECTOR
- Leadership and strategic planning
- Recruitment and retention of FLT graduate students
- Faculty supervision, including hiring and overseeing core faculty and recruiting additional instructors
- Coordinating with Office Operations staff in regard to HR, finances, and academic coordinating issues
- Academic advising for current students (50-60 advisees)
- Managing admissions process and chairing admissions committee (Spring, Summer, Fall each year)
- Evaluating Comprehensive Exams and completion of other program requirements
- Budgeting and financial management
- Curriculum development for FLT courses, including overseeing design, content, accessibility, and student support for current and new courses
- Evaluation of courses delivery and program as a whole
- Hiring and supervision of student workers
- Marketing strategy and materials
- Online Presence – Design and maintenance of website and social media platforms
- Providing guidance on student projects and research initiatives
- Maintain connections and communication with alumni
- Representing the FLT Programs and CeLTA within MSU, including:
- College Graduate Committee
- Language departments
- Online program director groups
